Supermodel Gigi Hadid found herself in legal trouble during her recent vacation in the Cayman Islands. The 26-year-old star was reportedly arrested on July 10 for possessing marijuana while traveling with her friend, Leah Nicole McCarthy, aged 28.

According to reports from Cayman Marl Road, Gigi’s luggage was scanned upon arrival at the airport, leading to a more in-depth search. Officers allegedly discovered marijuana and “utensils used for the consumption of ganja” during the inspection.

Both Gigi Hadid and Leah McCarthy were promptly arrested on suspicion of importation of ganja and importation of utensils used for consuming the substance. Following their arrest, they were taken to the Prisoner Detention Center before being released on bail.

The pair appeared in court on July 12, where they pleaded guilty to the charges. As a result, they were each fined $1,000, successfully avoiding a recorded conviction.

The incident highlights the importance of being aware of local laws and regulations while traveling, even if substances may be legally obtained in one’s home location. Gigi Hadid and Leah McCarthy’s experience serves as a cautionary tale for travelers, reminding them to be vigilant and respectful of the laws in the places they visit.
