Neelavelicham, The story revolves around a young writer who stays in a mansion rumored to be haunted by the apparition of a young woman who committed suicide due to betrayal in love. The film’s lead role, played by Tovino, was executed perfectly, and it will undoubtedly be a role to remember in his career. However, the same cannot be said for the character played by Roshan Mathew, who, despite being a gifted artist, could have been made more attractive.
The film’s background music scoring and editing were the most significant drawbacks and shortcomings. Although the night scenes lacked light, the cameraman failed to create any magic. The director, Ashique, should have paid more attention to the music and editing to make the film more engaging.
One positive aspect of the film was the decision to keep the original evergreen Malayalam music. However, Ashique failed to capture the present-day film industry’s essence, making the scenes feel out of place.
Overall, Neelavelicham failed to live up to its expectations, and although Tovino’s performance was excellent, it wasn’t enough to save the film. The director, Ashique Abu, is a talented filmmaker, and we hope to see better films from him in the future
