Veteran actor Innocent, who was battling cancer, passed away at the age of 75 at VPS Lakeshore Hospital in Kochi on March 26th. The actor had been admitted to the hospital on March 3rd after he complained of breathing issues and uneasiness. It is reported that he had not been keeping well for some time.
Innocent, whose real name is Innocent Vareed Thekkethala, was a prominent figure in the Malayalam film industry, having acted in over 500 films. He began his career as a mimicry artist and later ventured into acting, making his debut in the 1972 film “Minnaram Pournami”. Over the years, he became a household name in Kerala and was known for his versatile acting skills and impeccable comic timing.
Innocent had been battling cancer for some time and had undergone treatment for the same. Despite his illness, he continued to work in films and was last seen in the 2020 movie “Kunjeldho”. His death has come as a shock to the film industry and his fans, who remember him for his memorable performances and infectious smile.
Innocent was not just a talented actor but also a dedicated social worker and a member of the Lok Sabha. He had won the Lok Sabha elections from Chalakudy constituency in Kerala in 2014 and 2019. His contribution to the film industry and society as a whole will be remembered for years to come.
